In San Juan Chamula, the San Juan Bautista Church reveals unique ancestral rituals, while in Zinacantán, you will discover vibrant textile traditions and colorful embroidery, showcasing craftsmanship passed down through generations. Days 1 to 2 – Sumidero Canyon & Encounters with Indigenous Communities
Upon your arrival in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, you will be welcomed by your private English-speaking driver-guide, who will accompany you throughout your journey across Chiapas.
Your first immersion begins with the spectacular discovery of the Sumidero Canyon. Aboard a boat, you will navigate beneath towering cliffs carved by time while observing the abundant wildlife that inhabits this breathtaking natural setting.
You will then continue to San Cristóbal de las Casas, a charming colonial town nestled in the mountains, where you will spend the next two nights. Enjoy free time to explore its historic center, cobblestone streets, artisan markets, and unique bohemian atmosphere.
The following day, you will meet the Indigenous communities of the Chiapas Highlands. In San Juan Chamula, the San Juan Bautista Church reveals fascinating ancestral rituals unlike anywhere else in Mexico. Days 3 to 4 – Artisans of Amatenango del Valle & Canyoning Adventure
Your journey continues to Amatenango del Valle, an emblematic village of the Chiapas Highlands renowned for its ancestral craftsmanship. Here, you will meet local women potters, guardians of a traditional savoir-faire passed down through generations. With your hands in the clay, you will discover the precise techniques and cultural symbolism behind this traditional pottery, deeply connected to the identity of the village.
This authentic encounter offers a unique glimpse into local life, shaped by tradition, community, and the peaceful rhythm of the highlands.
The following day, adventure awaits in Comitán with an exciting canyoning experience set in spectacular natural surroundings. Surrounded by rocky cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise waters, you will enjoy a series of jumps, rappels, and water passages in a preserved environment. Suitable for all levels and supervised by professional guides, this fun and refreshing activity is the perfect way to experience the wild beauty of Chiapas from a different perspective.

Day 5 – Stand-Up Paddle & Snorkeling at Chucumaltik Cenote
Experience the stunning Chucumaltik Cenote as you explore every corner of this natural wonder both above and below the water. Glide across its crystal-clear surface on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and discover its underwater world while snorkeling in its refreshing blue waters.
Throughout the experience, you will admire the incredible colors and breathtaking scenery of the cenote. Swim, float, observe the surrounding nature, take unforgettable photos, and — for the more adventurous — jump from an 8-meter platform into the deep blue waters of this spectacular cenote.
After this immersive experience, you will continue your journey toward your next destination: the beautiful eco-tourism center of Las Nubes.

Day 6 – Scarlet Macaw Observation in the Heart of the Jungle
During this jungle excursion, you will explore the ejido of Reforma Agraria, an area combining rural communities, pasturelands, and preserved tropical forest. Together with the Las Guacamayas ecolodge, the local community actively works to protect the scarlet macaw in its natural habitat.
As part of these conservation efforts, artificial nesting sites have been installed throughout the area, and you will have the opportunity to visit some of them during the tour. Along the way, you may also observe a wide variety of wildlife including toucans, parrots, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, hummingbirds, and, of course, the magnificent scarlet macaws.
During the nesting season (December to June), macaws are generally observed in pairs or small groups near their nests or flying above the jungle canopy, offering a more intimate wildlife experience.
Throughout the excursion, you will be accompanied by a specialized local guide with extensive knowledge of the region and its biodiversity.

Days 7 to 8 – Canoe Expedition & Discovery of Yaxchilán and Bonampak
Your adventure becomes even wilder during a boat expedition along the Lacantún River, deep in the Lacandon Jungle Reserve near the Guatemalan border. As you navigate through this remote region surrounded by dense tropical rainforest, you will discover one of the most biodiverse and untouched areas of Mexico. Monkeys, tropical birds, and lush vegetation accompany this immersive journey into nature, far from the modern world.
The following day, you will explore two of the most remarkable Maya archaeological sites in Chiapas. Accessible only by canoe, Yaxchilán emerges dramatically from the jungle along the banks of the Usumacinta River. Its finely carved stelae and majestic temples reveal the fascinating history of the Maya civilization in an extraordinary natural setting.

When is the best time to visit Chiapas ?
Chiapas is a region of remarkable diversity, blending tropical jungle, mountains, rivers, and archaeological sites. This creates a wide range of climates and altitudes across the territory. Overall, it is a destination that can be visited year-round, although certain periods are more favorable depending on the type of experience you are looking for.
If you have flexibility, we recommend traveling between November and April, during the dry season. Temperatures are pleasant, especially in the highlands around San Cristóbal de las Casas, making it ideal for exploring the Lacandon Jungle, navigating the Sumidero Canyon, hiking, and visiting Maya archaeological sites.
The period from June to September corresponds to the rainy season, which is more pronounced in tropical and forested areas. Rain showers are usually short and tend to occur in the late afternoon, leaving sunny mornings for exploration. This season reveals an especially lush landscape, with abundant rivers and spectacular waterfalls, particularly around Misol-Ha and deep in the jungle.
Traveling to Chiapas during the rainy season
In summer, temperatures remain mild in high-altitude areas such as San Cristóbal, while the jungle becomes more vibrant and green than ever.
